IF/ Design Labs is a think tank and design laboratory for urban futures.

We work with communities, researchers, and change-makers to explore what cities could become, and combine research, imagination, and strategic design to help us get there. 

IF/ was founded by Thomas Bryans, architect and founding Director of IF_DO, and Dr Devorah Block, a strategist and researcher focused on public engagement and social change.

We work alongside IF_DO, the award-winning architecture studio known for a decade of socially engaged work.

Our vision is to inspire and empower people to imagine better urban futures.

Our work is structured through thematic research labs. Our first lab, the Place Literacy Lab, explores how we understand, interpret, and imagine the future of the places in which we live.
